A Japanese product designer has tweeted that:
“On November 20th, the 11 goods I designed for use with the 3DS will go on sale simultaneously. Those of you buying the 3DS, please buy them while you’re at it! This will be officially announced on the homepage eventually, lol. Best regards.”
The designer appears to work with keysfactory, a company that manufactures accessories for Nintendo DS consoles such as screen guards, cases and chargers (view their catalogue). The tweet itself has since been deleted and replaced with a much more vague tweet that reads:
“OIRA is designed to place 20 11 11 3DS product will be released simultaneously for the product.”
The common thread, however, is the use of the word simultaneously. Clearly, he believes the products he’s designed will be available at the launch of the 3DS. It would be fairly strange to make a mistake of when his own products were going to be released.
Not only that but Gamestop also did this.
“The computers for Gamestop have added the Nintendo 3DS in the system now, along with 18 games and 14 accessories listed as available for taking pre-orders on September 29th. They also have a listed a shipping date of November 22nd. (Since postal services are out on weekends, the Nov 20/2010 Sat is the most logical release date, as the orders would be delivered on Monday the 22nd).”

In an PAX 2010 interview about the upcoming Mortal Kombat reboot, Executive Producer Shaun Himmerick let slip the existence of a PSP2 development unit at Netherrealm Studios.
IndustryGamers asked about the possibility of a version of Mortal Kombat on the current PSP or the upcoming 3DS, and Himmerick replied:
“We’re not launching day one on all consoles like that. We are looking at them; we have a PSP2 in the house and we’re looking at the engine, like what can it support. Always a big thing for us is the performance. We’re running at 60 fps, what can we do and do we have to build all the art assets over. We’re definitely looking at them. PSP2 looks like it’s a pretty powerful machine. We don’t have a 3DS system in house yet, but we’re looking to get one, and we’ll certainly look at what its power is.”
So Netherrealm has a PSP2 system, but not a 3DS? How far along is the system and possible launch titles? Previous rumors have pegged the PSP2 as a 2011 hardware launch, but Sony has remained mum on their next portable system, choosing instead to focus on the current generation PSP. What are they hiding in PlayStationland?
The rest of the interview with Shaun Himmerick about Mortal Kombat’s return to form will be posted soon.

Dave J Murphy has finally cracked DSi mode. Note this will not allow you to play pirated games such as DSiWare, or other DSi ROMS. This will allow you to load DSi mode homebrew over Wifi.
While playing around with the save game exploits for Cooking Coach and Classic Word Games I created last year I discovered two things about the flashchip on the wifi module where the firmware would be stored on a normal DS. (1) It contains only the setup data for wifi, the user settings and the wifi connection settings and, (2) Part of it is writable, from DS mode. This was what finally gave me the motivation to revisit an old project to upload homebrew to the DS over wifi.
installDSiLink.nds will, when run from a DSi compatible card in DS mode, write the dslink client to the wifi flash chip and this can then be bootstrapped from the save game exploits mentioned above. You’ll need to write the appropriate .SAV file from this archive to your game of choice from either a DS with eepinator or use one of the save game transfer devices around. Cooking Coach is more convenient since the exploit kicks in just after the splash screen, with Classic Word Games you need to go through a couple of menu options.
Unfortunately testing revealed that later model DSi and XL consoles have had their security beefed up a little. You’ll know if you have one of these consoles if either the installer fails to write the loader or the loader fails to connect when bootstrapped. Sorry if you have one of these consoles, you’ll have to wait a little bit longer to play with DSi mode.
libnds still needs some more updating to deal with DSi mode features, currently audio and touchscreen don’t work and the swi decompression functions seem to have changed. Hopefully now there’s a reasonably straightforward way to run code we can get a few more people looking at what we need to change and how best to approach it.

PhotoFast CR-5400 mini review:
This little thing is actually a new kind of memory stick for the PSP. There are already Memory Sticks that Sony makes but they are usually pretty expensive and don’t have a lot of room to begin with. Now you could use regular MicroSD’s for your PSP, but not only 1 MicroSD at a time you can put in 2.
So lets say you have a 4GB MicroSD and a 8GB MicroSD once you put in both of them into your CR-5400 you now have a 12GB Memory Stick for your PSP. The speed won’t be as great as the regular Memory Sticks but its still great for running those ISO’s, the speed also matters about what kind of MicroSD you use if the class of the MicroSD 6 then the CR-5400 will be faster. I tested God of War CSO file and it works perfectly on my PSP 1000 running 5.00 M33-6.
The great thing about this is that MicroSD’s are really cheap these days that means I can buy 2 8GB MicroSDs and my memory stick is now 16GB. This is a great product and I recommend getting one for your PSP. You can buy it at Gamekool for only $7.50
