Official quote from GBAtemp.

Team SuperCard has released a BETA of their Video Plug-in exclusively to GBATemp. I have played with the software, tested various formats (some audio, yes — audio without picture is supported!), and took a few screen shots to hopefully get you all even more excited about this EOS add-on. Please take a moment to read over the hands-on impressions and then post your comments or questions.

Here is a picture

Check out AW’s first impressions of the video player: http://gbatemp.net/t261484-scds2-video-plug-in

And you can order your Supercard DStwo for free shipping here at Gamekool: http://www.gamekool.com/freeshipping-supercard-ds-two-scds2-for-ds-ds-lite-dsi-p-343.html

On a side note today is my birthday!

r4i gold
The popular Wood R4 firmware now is on the R4i Gold. The R4i Gold is a SDHC cart and supports the DSi, that means that you can finally now use Wood R4 on a DSi. The Wood R4i Gold is the same exact one that is made for the original R4 so that means they both have the same compatibility. Another great thing about this flashcart is that its even cheaper then the Acekard 2i and supports Wood R4+DSi+SDHC. This flashcart now is a straight competitor with the Acekard 2i.

You can purchase the R4i Gold here at Gamekool: Purchase R4i

The forums are back up, while the main website isn’t yet. The admin of the CycloDS forum has posted the following.

Hello,

We apologize for any inconvenience caused, we had few issues with the web servers and further compounded by problems communicating with our host. All hosting issues have now been resolved.

The R&D is hard at work and a new firmware update should be available soon.

Best Regard
Team Cyclops – Tech Support

So the team is back and going to finish up with the DS cycle. Its nice to know they are back.

Last week, we revealed that Super Mario All-Stars is coming the UK in December and now in an extra bonus for Nintendo fans all over the UK, it has emerged that the special Wii and DSi consoles will be released over here before they’re released in Japan.

The red DSi XL bundle features a mushroom, a flower and a star next to the camera and comes with a copy of New Super Mario Bros.

The red Wii will go on sale on 29 October, but in a change from the Japanese version which included a new version of Super Mario Bros., this bundle will come with a copy of the original Donkey Kong pre-loaded onto it. It’s also bundled with Wii Sports, New Super Mario Bros. Wii and a red Wii Remote Plus. The Remote Plus is the new controller with an in-built MotionPlus accessory.

Nintendo hasn’t confirmed how much the consoles will cost but we’d expect the company to leave the exact pricing up to the individual retailers as usual.

Seriously Nintendo why are you making this? Do we really need a new color for the Wii the colors we have right now are fine its not like we take our Wii’s everywhere they just sit in one place all the time. For DSi I can understand people might like red. But instead of making these units they should focus on the Nintendo 3DS so that we won’t see a shortage with that like we saw with the Wii.

CycloDS team are gone?

CycloDS
The CycloDS website and forum have went down and now it says that there domain is expired. Before the CycloDS website used to just be down but there domain was never expired. Last update for the CycloDS was on Jul 14 2010, and they haven’t updated there cart since then. There emails are down as well. We have no ways to contact them and do not know what is happening. Currently we recommend not to buy the CycloDS and get a different flashcart instead. It apparently seems that the Cyclo team has abandoned their flashcart just like what happened to the DS-X.

Nintendo has just announced the launch details and final features of the 3DS at its conference in Japan.

The Nintendo 3DS will launch in Japan on February 26, 2011 at a price of 25,000 yen ($US300). This is the same price the Wii launched at in Japan so expect it to be around the same price as the Wii was on launch in your country (Ouch!). It will launch in the rest of the world in March.

The design of the console has been locked in and is more-or-less exactly the same as the version shown at E3 with the exception of a different coloured d-pad. The system will launch in ‘Aqua Blue’ (the blue-black design shown at E3) and ‘Cosmos Black’ (straight black). It is a pity that the popular red-black 3DS seems nowhere to be found.

The 3DS will have a virtual console feature that will allow Gameboy & Gameboy Color games games to be played on the system. The 3DS will also feature Miis. The system will come the software ‘Mii Studio’ which will allow you to create Miis. It will even let you take a photo of yourself and automatically create a Mii for you.

The system will have a more robust wifi system, allowing you to share data through tag mode when the system is asleep even when the same game is not being played. The example given was that Super Street Fighter 3DS will automatically download ghost data and other records from passing 3DSs. The more games you play that support tag mode, the more data you will download from passing people. No information has been given as to the state of the online support on the system or whether friend codes will make a return or not, but the system will feature a internet browser of its own.

According the a rough translation of the spec sheet, you will be able to transfer DSiware from your DSi console to the 3DS. This is fantastic news for all those people who already own a DSi and would like to keep their DSiware with them on the 3DS. The sheet mentions that you will only be able to move software a limited amount of times and some software is not capable of being moved (DSi browser etc one would suspect).

Software line up

Also announced is that the Nintendo 3DS supports Multi-Tasking.
